Special Committee on Political Action

Committee Report

Reporting on behalf of the committee, Bridget Martin, assistant to the president and director of the government affairs, said, “Successful political activism is at the heart of strengthening this union.” She outlined a 14-point call to action that involves getting more active at the local lodge level, registering members and their families to vote in all elections, contacting politicians, educating members, supporting LEF and CAF, and other measures. The committee also appealed to the delegates for their support of a mandatory LEF contribution, a combined resolution that was later approved by the Convention. The report was presented and approved on Day 3.
