Committee on Official PublicationCommittee ReportThe committee reminded delegates that the Constitution requires an official publication be produced and distributed to all members. The Constitution does not specify the format of the publication or the means of distribution. Over the years, steadily rising printing and postage costs have outpaced dues revenues earmarked for the publication. This has resulted in newspapers being published with less frequency. The committee asked the assembly to recommend to the Communication Department that it move as rapidly as possible toward digital delivery of the Boilermaker Reporter to those members who are able and willing to accept a digital Reporter instead of a printed one. A digital Reporter would likely take advantage of email, web site publishing, and related technology. Members would be offered an opportunity to opt in or out of the digital version. The committee cited the advantages of more timely publishing of news and other information, as well as cost savings. It referred delegates to the Convention web site, updated continuously during the Convention, as an example of how quickly information can be made available to members. The report was presented and approved on Day 4. Committee Members
