Committee on Industrial Forging, Boiler, and Allied IndustryCommittee ReportThe committee offered a recommendation that the International president merge the Forging and Allied Industry Conference and the Industrial and Utility Boiler Manufacturing Conference. The committee believes merging the two conferences is needed to deal with unfair trade agreements and other negative legislation. The combined conference, through a unified effort, would seek to be more involved in the activities of the governmental affairs department. It would also promote educating officers, committeemen, and stewards to better represent the members in collective bargaining. The committee further recommended that a conference meeting be held each year in conjunction with the annual LEAP conference. Other recommendations included 1) that International health and safety specialists work with NIOSH and OSHA to develop a heat standard to protect workers in the forging, boiler manufacturing, and allied industries and 2) that a request be made to NIOSH and OSHA to research technical improvements in personal protection equipment for vibration and noise. The report was presented and approved on Day 4. Committee Members
