Special Committee on Cement and Building Supplies

Committee Report

The committee reported that the Cement, Lime, Gypsum, and Allied Workers Division currently represents 110 lodges in the U.S. and Canada, including 145 bargaining units. The committee’s primary issue was the continuing operational deficit within the division. The committee recommended support of a Law Committee amendment to change Article 23.3.2.2 so that dues paid to the division would be calculated as a percentage of the cement employees’ straight time hourly rate. Making this change should ensure the division operates in the black into the future. The amendment was later approved. The report was presented and adopted on Day 3.
