You never know who you might see wandering around in Las Vegas: a feather festooned showgirl, Mickey Mouse or maybe even Elvis.
For Local 549 (Pittsburg, California) delegate Osvaldo Troche, Western States organizer Diana Ornelas and support staff Ed Jasinski, it was “Jake from State Farm.”
Kevin Miles, aka “Jake” was at Caesars Palace filming a commercial. Ornelas and Jasinski, who were on Welcoming Committee duty manning their area, easily spotted him coming down the escalators. He’s pretty hard to miss in his signature red State Farm outfit.
Jasinski says he did a double take and then quickly realized it was the real-deal Jake.
“He was so gracious and took pictures with us,” Ornelas says.
“Very nice. Very cool,” adds Jasinski. “Just like an old buddy.”
Troche noticed him, too and wanted in on the action. He sent the photos back to his daughter who likes the State Farm commercials.
“She thought it was PhotoShopped,” Troche says. “But then she remembered I don’t know how to use that kind of technology or AI!”
