Pastor Teddy Johnson got the third day of the Convention off to a rousing start, singing a version of the Lord’s Prayer that prompted Convention Chair Warren Fairley to remark, “That would make you want to charge Hell with a water pistol, wouldn't it.”

The Law Committee continued its report, returning to its proposed amendment to Article 5.5, which had been held in abeyance the day before. Their revised motion was absent the word “revoke” that had caused much disagreement the day before.

HANS HOOGENDOORN, a retired member of Local 549 (Pittsburg, Calif.), has not lost his passion for the Boilermakers union. He was an active member of the Boilermakers for 53 years and now is attending this Consolidated Convention on his own dime for the sheer love of it.

TWO RESOLUTIONS TO honor the late Abe Breehey were recommended by the Resolutions Committee and adopted unanimously by delegates Wednesday. Breehey was the Boilermaker’s Legislative Director before his unexpected death in April of this year.

INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT Newton B. Jones encouraged all delegates and members to join the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance, an outdoors sporting organization dedicated to union members. The USA is sponsoring a booth in the vendor’s hall to sign up new members and register for a gun raffle.
