Guest Speaker on Thursday, July 28th
Manfred Warda

Manfred Warda is General Secretary of the International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine, and General Workers’ Union (ICEM). With over 450 member trade unions from more than 130 countries, this federation represents more than 20 million workers worldwide.

Dedicated to practical solidarity, the ICEM unites trade unions in its industrial sectors on all continents. It negotiates and monitors global agreements with multinational companies on workers' rights, equality at work and the highest standards of health, safety and environmental protection worldwide. To those ends, it promotes networking among trade union reps within global corporations; coordinates solidarity and support for member unions during disputes; fosters union-building and skills training; provides information and expertise on collective bargaining and other issues; and represents workers’ interests within the United Nations, its agencies, and other inter-governmental bodies.

The Boilermakers union is an active member in the ICEM, with participation by IP Newton B. Jones as Materials Sector Chair, and IVP Warren Fairley as Alternate Chair for the sector.
